So glad he’s here with us and is telling his life changing story. Love how he speaks so clearly and passionately about the enormous value of cycling to the mind and body and even our spirituality. Mostly how aware we must be when riding our bike. Don’t know what I would do without my bike!! Thanks so much for sharing such inspiring content.

Cycling is highly effective for mitigating depression & the mental anguish that can result in Self Harm attempts. When you're on a bike your mind is focussed & you can safely face your demons. A bike though should not be only an escape from personal issues. Cycling is what I call Road Yoga & it's metronomic effect is calming. It boosts Serotonin (a calming neurotransmitter).
It boosts Dopamine, which creates an elated effect & also Adrenaline which makes you feel energised.
I work in the mental health field & also see the negative effects of Overtraining which can also cause depression due to the high cortisol levels that can trigger this.
Paul has done his ride in a very positive way & everything he has stated makes complete sense.

Thanks for sharing this Marcus 🙏 you completely understand cycling from, not only the mental health aspect, but also being a cyclist who has bike packed across great distances. You get it 😀🚴

Yes I get it & know that too much hardcore cycling is also bad for your mental health. The body works well with moderation
